Eat Better Snacks with Lotus Pops !

It all began with Sruti Jilla who shared a passion for food and a watchful eye in restaurants that was intrigued by new dishes and seldom ordered the same cuisine a second time which is how she came across roasted Lotus Seeds on her journey to India.

She then was devoted to lotus seeds as a snack.

One thing I've missed since starting the paleo diet is popcorn !

It's just one of those snacks that are near and dear to my heart at every movie theater as a kid, or even during Halloween it was always there !

I've never tried Lotus seeds before and just like Sruti I love trying out new things especially when it comes to snacks that are nutritious !

I was skeptical at first to try them but so glad I did because the crunch resembles that of crisp rice cereal in the shape of popcorn and sprinkled with salt , garlic and paprika !

Sruti herself provided me with some Lotus Pops to review and here are the flavors I received.

Himalayan Pink Salt:

Made with Lotus Seeds (Foxnut Seeds) , Ghee (Clarified Butter) , and himalayan pink salt

Growing up as a kid my all time favorite treat was rice crispies so I had to give into my craving of course but I swapped out the marshmallow and went with chocolate because well who wouldn't ? Chocolate is creamy, sweet, rich and so decadent .

Directions:

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper

1.On a stove heat one cup of chocolate chips until creamy

2. Add in 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin and stir

3. Grab a rolling pin and crush the lotus pops

4. Toss in the lotus pops

5. Add 1/4 cup of dried cranberries or whichever dried fruit you prefer

Stir in the cranberries and lotus pops then carefully spoon the mixture into the sheet lined with parchment paper

6. Pop in the fridge for 30 minutes till firm then slice into squares and enjoy!

I loved the crisp crunch of the lotus pops with the smooth creaminess of the decadent dark chocolate that mingled together quite perfectly with tart tangy cranberries!

Paprika & Garlic:

Made with Lotus Seeds (Foxnut Seeds ) , Ghee (Clarified Butter) , paprika , garlic and salt

I liked the crunch that the lotus pops had to offer along with heat from  paprika with pungent garlic sprinkled to perfection with salt it was the perfect movie time snack ! You can make a trail mix out of lotus pops by adding cranberries, raisins , nuts even decadent dark chocolate!

Lotus pops have the same crunch as popcorn but are more nutritious and corn free of course with a unique flavor combination !

When trying out the Himalayan Pink Salt flavor to me it was a cross between popcorn and crisp rice cereal it was crunchy with a subtle salty flavor that went along perfectly with decadent rich chocolate ! The paprika and garlic flavor was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of spices and crunch making a great side for some soup or as a movie time snack!
